Luxury Vinyl Plank in Missouri City
Luxury vinyl plank looks like a wood floor but takes spills, pet claws and busy kids in stride. We prep the floor underneath with care, lay every row straight and leave your home tidy, the way we would for a neighbor down the street.
A Wood Look That Handles Real Life
Luxury vinyl plank, often called LVP, is a layered floor with a printed wood-grain image under a clear wear layer. Most of what we install is rigid-core click plank, which locks together edge to edge and floats over the floor below without glue or nails. It holds up well in kitchens, laundry rooms and open living areas where water and foot traffic are part of the day.
It is a good fit when you want something warmer and quieter than tile, more forgiving with moisture than laminate, and easier on the budget than hardwood. Most houses around Missouri City sit on concrete slabs, and plank suits a slab well as long as the concrete is flat and has been checked for moisture. That prep is where we spend our time, because it decides whether your floor feels solid for years or starts to click and gap.
What Your Plank Installation Covers
- Removing the old floor
- Whatever is down now, whether that is carpet with its padding and the tack strips along the walls or an old sheet of vinyl, comes up and leaves with us for disposal. Ceramic tile is slower and more costly to remove, so if your rooms have it, we point that out during the visit.
- Checking the slab
- We run a straightedge across the concrete to find high spots and dips, and we test for moisture. You will see what we find before any plank goes down.
- Leveling and underlayment
- Low spots get a patch or self-leveling compound, and high ridges get ground down. We add a vapor barrier or underlayment when the plank you choose calls for it.
- Careful layout
- We plan the rows so the narrow cuts land at walls you will not notice and the seams are staggered the way real boards would be. Planks run in the direction that looks best down your longest sightline.
- Trim, transitions and doors
- We leave the expansion gap the manufacturer asks for, cover it with baseboard or quarter round, and fit transitions where plank meets tile or carpet. Doors that drag get trimmed so they swing freely.
- Cleanup before we leave
- We sweep, vacuum the dust and take the scraps with us, so your rooms are ready to use that evening.
Signs It May Be Time for Vinyl Plank
Carpet that holds stains and smells
Pets and spills soak into carpet and pad. Plank wipes clean and gives allergens fewer places to settle.
Laminate swelling at the seams
Raised, puffy edges near the sink or dishwasher mean water got into the core. A waterproof plank is a sensible replacement in those rooms.
Cracked or loose tile
Hollow-sounding or broken tile often points to movement underneath. We can remove it, correct the floor and give you a softer, warmer surface.
Mismatched floors room to room
Three different floors in one open space can make a house feel choppy. One continuous run of plank ties the rooms together.
Cold, hard floors in daily spaces
If you stand a lot in the kitchen, plank feels gentler on your feet than tile and is quieter to walk on.
How the Job Goes, Start to Finish
- 1
A phone call and a visit
Share which rooms you want redone and what is not working with the floor you have now. We come out, measure, look at the slab and talk through plank options with you.
- 2
A clear written estimate
You get the scope broken out line by line: removal, leveling, underlayment, plank, trim and transitions. If something is optional, we say so.
- 3
Getting ready
We ask you to clear small items and valuables, and we talk through furniture before the day. Plank sits in your home ahead of time when the maker recommends it, so it adjusts to the indoor temperature.
- 4
Install day
We protect what is staying, remove the old floor, prep the slab and lay the plank row by row. Most rooms are walkable as soon as the last plank clicks in.
- 5
A final look side by side
Once the last piece of trim is in place, you and our installer go over the new floor together. We open and close each door, step across every transition and answer whatever you want to know about caring for it.

What Shapes the Price of Your Plank Floor
Plank pricing comes down to the floor you pick and the work it takes to get your rooms ready. Two homes of equal size can end up with quite different totals, depending on what the old floor has been hiding. We explain each line so nothing comes as a surprise later.
- Plank thickness and wear layer
- Thicker rigid cores and heavier wear layers cost more but stand up better to pets, dropped pans and moved chairs.
- What has to come out
- Carpet comes up quickly. Glued-down vinyl or ceramic tile takes more labor and more disposal.
- Slab condition
- A flat, dry slab keeps prep simple. Dips, cracks or moisture issues add leveling compound, grinding or a vapor barrier.
- Layout and room shape
- Open, rectangular rooms go fast. Closets, angled walls, kitchen islands and lots of doorways add cutting time and extra trim pieces.
- Steps and stair nosing
- Covering steps with plank takes matching nose pieces and slow, careful fitting, so we price it on its own line. Our stair flooring page goes into that work in more detail.
Questions About Luxury Vinyl Plank
Something not covered here? (346) 597-8258
Is luxury vinyl plank really waterproof?
Most rigid-core plank is waterproof on its surface and core, so a spilled drink or a pet accident will not swell it. Water that gets under the floor from a leak is a different story and still needs to be dried out. We help you choose a product suited to wet rooms like kitchens and laundry areas.
Can you put plank right over my concrete slab?
Yes, as long as the slab is flat enough and passes a moisture check. We test both during the visit. If the concrete needs leveling or a vapor barrier, we include it in the estimate and explain why.
How is plank different from luxury vinyl tile?
It is the same material in a different shape. Plank is long and narrow to look like wood boards, while luxury vinyl tile is cut in square and rectangular formats printed to resemble stone or ceramic. If you want a stone look, our luxury vinyl tile page has the details.
Do I need to move my furniture myself?
We will talk this through when we visit. Please clear small items, breakables and anything inside cabinets. Let us know about heavy pieces like pianos or gun safes ahead of time so we can plan.
How long does an installation take?
A few rooms with simple prep often finish in a day or two. Larger areas, tile removal or major leveling add time. We give you a realistic schedule once we have seen the floor.
Will plank feel hollow or sound loud?
A floating floor can sound hollow if the slab is uneven or the underlayment is skipped. Leveling the low spots and using the right underlayment keeps it quiet and solid underfoot.
